On 19 June, 45 Special Olympics Romania athletes and 20 volunteers from Discovery Networks Romania celebrated Impact Day. That's when Discovery Communications encourages its staff worldwide, every year, to get involved in local social causes.

Within an event hosted by the Romania Football Federation Center in Buftea (close to Bucharest), athletes and their new friends had a fitness session within the SOfit project. They played football. They learned relaxation and stress management techniques that are part of the new Special Olympics health discipline Strong Minds.

“Given that Eurosport is in our portfolio and that we are the TV host of the 2018-2024 Olympics Games, we've decided to support a sports-related cause this year and to offer Special Olympics athletes some moments of joy. There was a lot of enthusiasm and emotion on both sides, so mission accomplished!”, said Anca Amariei, PR Manager Discovery Networks Central and Eastern Europe.
